Training

The Koorie Heritage Trust is undertaking cultural awareness training of all RAV staff over a two-year period.

This training is an important part of RAV’s commitment to making sure our services are culturally appropriate and sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

At the training day for managers, attendees had the opportunity to engage with Victorian Aboriginal community members who took part in a workshop to help develop an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander vision statement.

As well as the formal training through the Trust, staff are learning about Aboriginal culture through involvement in other activities such as National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Day of Observance Committee (NAIDOC) and Reconciliation Week and attendance at conferences such as the 9th World Indigenous Women and Wellness Conference held in Darwin, September, 2010 and the SNAICC conference.
